Is UHF NEXUS designed for reliable live guitar and bass use?

Yes. UHF NEXUS is CFG’s stage-focused wireless system for guitarists and bassists who prioritize a dependable connection, low latency, and freedom from crowded Wi-Fi bands.

It operates on the 657-663 MHz UHF band instead of the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz bands used by Wi-Fi and other common wireless gear. With under 2 ms latency and up to 165 ft / 50 m of open-air line-of-sight range, it is built for gigs, rehearsals, worship stages, and other setups where your wireless needs to keep up.

Plug the transmitter into your instrument and the receiver into your amp or pedalboard. Move around the stage, get cables out from under your feet, or walk out front during soundcheck while you keep playing.

Why choose a UHF wireless system for live use?

UHF NEXUS is designed for players who want dependable stage wireless without sharing the crowded 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz bands used by Wi-Fi and other common wireless gear.

  • Built for live reliability: NEXUS runs on the 657-663 MHz UHF band, keeping your instrument signal outside the common 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz Wi-Fi bands.
  • Under 2 ms latency: Your playing feels immediate and natural, with no distracting delay between your hands and your amp.
  • Up to 165 ft / 50 m range: Gives you room to move around the stage or walk out front during soundcheck, with clear line of sight.
  • 7 selectable channels: Useful for busy stages and multiple wireless setups, with color-coded channels that are easy to identify.
  • Flexible pairing: One transmitter can feed multiple receivers, or one receiver can work with multiple pre-paired transmitters for fast instrument swaps.
  • Up to 6 hours per charge: Rechargeable 950 mAh batteries in both the transmitter and receiver.
  • Fits most guitar and bass jacks: The 230° rotating 1/4" plug works with most common jack positions and instrument layouts.

Will UHF NEXUS fit my guitar or bass jack?

In most cases, yes. The 230° rotating 1/4" plug is designed to fit common side, front, angled, and many recessed guitar and bass jacks.

Deeply recessed, tightly spaced, or unusually shaped jack cavities can make direct mounting awkward. In those cases, the Air-Pocket transmitter holster and extension cable can move the transmitter to your strap instead.

How does UHF NEXUS sound compared to a guitar cable?

UHF NEXUS uses 24-bit / 48 kHz audio and is designed to keep your guitar or bass tone natural while giving you under 2 ms of latency.

The video below compares UHF NEXUS directly with a standard guitar cable, so you can hear the difference for yourself.

How do I tell the transmitter and receiver apart?

The black unit is the transmitter for your guitar or bass. The white unit is the receiver for your amp or pedalboard.

That color coding makes setup faster, especially on dark stages where tiny TX/RX labels aren’t exactly winning any design awards.

Which CFG wireless system fits your setup?

Choose UHF NEXUS if live-stage reliability and staying outside crowded Wi-Fi bands are your priorities. Choose SonikSphere NEO for longer battery life, very low latency, and built-in input control for hot active or piezo instruments. Original SonikSphere is CFG’s original 5.8 GHz 24-bit system, while CF-80 is the budget-friendly 2.4 GHz option.

What should I know before buying UHF NEXUS?

UHF NEXUS is designed for 1/4" instrument-level use, and there are a few compatibility and regional details worth checking before you order.

  • Very hot active or piezo outputs: UHF NEXUS does not include a dedicated input PAD. If your instrument has an unusually hot output and you want built-in input-level control, SonikSphere NEO includes a -10dB PAD.
  • Awkward or deeply recessed jacks: the rotating plug fits most guitar and bass jack layouts, but the Air-Pocket transmitter holster can be useful when direct mounting is tight or inconvenient.
  • Regional availability: UHF NEXUS operates on 657-663 MHz and is not for use in AU, JP, KR, BR, MX, AR, CL, ZA, SA, or UAE. Check local wireless regulations before ordering.
